Labels are derived from the published terms in this list — the lowest rate, the fastest stated payout, the widest amount range — and are recalculated whenever the list changes. They are not paid placements.

You are comparing this market from outside it. Availability and terms differ by province and state, so this list is limited to products that may be offered in all of them — from inside the market you may see more.

Buckmatch is paid by the lenders and banks whose products appear here. Best return first. The list is ordered on the annual interest rate each provider publishes, from highest to lowest. How this list is ordered

Payment is usually contingent on you taking up a product — being approved, drawing the loan, or being issued the card. It does not affect the order of this list, or the rates and fees shown, which come from the provider. We are not a lender, a mortgage broker or an adviser.

The order is calculated before any commercial term is considered. No provider can pay for a higher position, and products with no published rate appear last.

Eligible deposits with a member institution are protected by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, within limits and by category. Coverage is per member institution, not per brand — several deposit brands can belong to one member institution, in which case a single limit covers all of them.

Payment does not affect this order. No provider can buy a higher position, and the order is calculated from published rates before any commercial term is considered. Products with no published rate appear last.

Where two products carry the same rate, the earlier one keeps its place. Products we earn nothing from are ordered the same way as products we do.

We do not cover every product on the market. A provider absent from this list is not a judgement about it.

Pricing shown is indicative and taken from published price lists for Canada. It is a comparison based on published product criteria — not financial advice, and never a promise of approval.

Savings accounts in Canada are deposits you can usually reach without a long lock-up. Buckmatch lists licensed providers with a live apply link. Eligible balances are covered by CDIC coverage under OSFI and the FCAC — a higher advertised rate is not a reason to ignore the licence or the protection limit.

What to compare

  • The advertised rate and the conditions that keep it (minimum balance, new-money only, a teaser period).
  • How fast you can withdraw, and whether a withdrawal kills the rate.
  • Whether the account sits with a deposit-taker covered by CDIC coverage.

A tax wrapper available in this market can change the net return even when the headline rate looks ordinary. Tax wrappers and savings and deposit protection explain those two lines. Sketch growth in the savings calculator or the local tools.

Fixed terms are a different product: term deposits. Everyday banking sits with banks. Borrowing is not saving — start from personal loans if you need credit.

FAQ

Questions readers in this market ask

Answered with local rules, local supervision and local pricing — not a translated US page.

Which savings rate is highest in Canada?

Use the rate on a written offer, and check whether it is an introductory bonus. Eligible deposits stay within the CDIC coverage limit of $100,000. We do not invent a market-top figure.

Are there tax-efficient savings products here?

TFSA: Tax-free savings account — growth and withdrawals are untaxed. RRSP: Registered retirement plan with tax-deductible contributions. FHSA: First home savings account combining RRSP deduction with TFSA withdrawals.

Who supervises the providers compared on Buckmatch in Canada?

Every institution listed for Canada is supervised by OSFI and the FCAC. Eligible deposits are covered by CDIC coverage up to $100,000 per depositor and institution.

What does "APR" mean here?

APR is the effective annual cost used in Canada, including interest and mandatory fees. We always show the local measure so figures match the provider's own price list.

Do you check my credit to show matches?

Providers in Canada assess applications with a Equifax / TransUnion Canada. We shortlist on the published minimum criteria only — Buckmatch never runs a credit check.

How current is the pricing on this page?

Every figure on this page is read from the provider's own product feed, so it changes here when the provider changes it rather than when we get round to retyping it. We deliberately do not stamp a verification date on the page: the feed does not record when a provider last reviewed a figure, so any date we printed would be our guess dressed up as a fact. Where a required number is missing from the feed we leave the field empty instead of estimating it.
