How we calculated this

The figure is a representative example, not an offer. It is built from one live deal — never the lowest rate from one lender and the lowest fee from another.

How we calculated thisRepresentative example (LoanConnect): an annuity loan of $15,000 ($500–$60,000) over 60 months (3–120). Nominal rate 8.99%, APR 9.37%. That costs $311 per month across 60 payments, $18,678 in total. No set-up or monthly fees in this example. APR among the lenders that match your request: 8.99%–35.00%, set individually. Updated 2026-09-30.

Effective rates among matching lenders are set individually. Not an offer.

LoanConnect is not a lender. Borrow $500–$60,000 at 8.99%–35% APR, terms 3–120 months (FAQ says most lenders use 12–60 months). Example: $2,000 at 29.96% for 24 months costs $2,685.12 ($111.88/month). Soft check on search; the chosen lender typically hard-pulls. Existing-debt payments generally must stay under 60% of income. Origination fees, when charged, are often around $100 and are built into the quoted payment. Source: loanconnect.ca/faq, 2026-08-27.

The annual percentage rate and the term are shown wherever a rate or a payment amount appears. The annual percentage rate includes interest and the charges the lender requires you to pay to obtain the credit.

Representative example. The figures shown are an example that fairly reflects the credit this listing covers. Your own rate, term and cost depend on the lender's assessment of your application.

Labels are derived from the published terms in this list — the lowest rate, the fastest stated payout, the widest amount range — and are recalculated whenever the list changes. They are not paid placements.

You are comparing this market from outside it. Availability and terms differ by province and state, so this list is limited to products that may be offered in all of them — from inside the market you may see more.

Buckmatch is paid by the lenders and banks whose products appear here. Cheapest first. The list is ordered on the all-in annual cost rate each provider publishes — the APR, or the effective rate where the market uses that term — from lowest to highest. Where a provider publishes a range, the lowest rate in the range is used. How this list is ordered

Payment is usually contingent on you taking up a product — being approved, drawing the loan, or being issued the card. It does not affect the order of this list, or the rates and fees shown, which come from the provider. We are not a lender, a mortgage broker or an adviser.

The order is calculated before any commercial term is considered. No provider can pay for a higher position, and products with no published rate appear last.

Buckmatch compares published product terms. We do not give financial, credit, tax or legal advice, we do not assess whether a product is suitable for you, and we cannot tell you whether you will be approved.

Payment does not affect this order. No provider can buy a higher position, and the order is calculated from published rates before any commercial term is considered. Products with no published rate appear last.

Where two products carry the same rate, the earlier one keeps its place. Products we earn nothing from are ordered the same way as products we do.

We do not cover every product on the market. A provider absent from this list is not a judgement about it.

Editorial guide

Everything to know before you apply

A personal loan in Canada is usually an unsecured instalment: a fixed amount, a published APR, and a repayment term. Buckmatch lists lenders licensed here — not a regional average, and not a product that is only sold in another country.

What to compare besides the headline rate

The number that changes the total cost is APR, plus set-up fees, monthly fees and how long you keep the loan. A lower advertised rate with a long term and a high arrangement fee can cost more than a plainer offer. Read the representative example on each card, then sketch the same amount and term in the loan calculator.

  • APR — the yearly cost including compulsory fees, as the local rules require.
  • Term — a longer term lowers the monthly payment and usually raises the interest you pay in total.
  • Funding speed — published per lender; it is not a promise of same-day payout for every applicant.
  • Purpose rules — consolidation, home work and everyday expenses are common; illegal use is not.

Credit checks and eligibility

Browsing Buckmatch does not run a credit check. A lender will, if you apply. The cheapest advertised APR is for strong files; thinner files pay more or are declined. We explain the difference in credit checks when you borrow.

When consolidation is the cheaper path

Replacing several revolving balances with one instalment can cut the total cost — if the new APR and fees are lower, and you do not refill the old credit. When debt consolidation pays walks through that test. Compare live offers on this page, or match on amount and term — we run no credit search.

FAQ

Common questions

Still stuck? Our editorial team answers reader questions weekly.

Does browsing Buckmatch affect my credit file?

No. We do not run a credit check. A hard inquiry happens later, only if you apply directly with a lender.

How fast can I get the money?

Funding speed is published per lender on the cards above. Some pay out the same day once approved; others take a few business days.

What fees should I watch?

After the interest rate, set-up and monthly fees usually change the total cost. Read each offer's fee line and the representative example before you apply.

Can I use a personal loan for anything?

Most lenders allow consolidation, home work and everyday expenses, and prohibit illegal use. Check the lender's own purpose list.
