Credit checks when you borrow

Browsing Bankmatch does not check your file. Applying with a lender usually does. What that distinction means.

Bankmatch does not run a credit check when you browse, match or use a calculator. A hard inquiry happens later, and only if you apply with a lender. That split matters: comparing offers here does not leave a footprint on your file.

What a lender looks at

Each lender in United States sets its own floor: income, existing debt, time at address, and whatever the local credit bureau or register shows. The cheapest advertised APR is for strong files. Thinner files pay more or are declined. The eligibility line on the card is the published rule, not a personal assessment.

How many applications to send

Several hard inquiries in a short window can look like stress on a file. Compare on Bankmatch first, then apply where the written offer is clear. Use match to narrow by amount and term, and read how we compare loans before you click apply.
