Offers you can apply for

Sorted on the rate each provider publishes — not on an editorial judgement, and not on what we are paid. Our ratings on rates, fees, transparency, flexibility and service appear on each listing and do not move it up the list.

Editorial guide

Everything to know before you apply

A home-equity line or further advance in United States is credit secured on a property you already own. Bankmatch lists licensed lenders with a live apply link — not a generic rate from another country. Compare the draw amount, the combined loan-to-value, whether interest is charged only on what you take, and the early-exit rules.

Line of credit versus a second mortgage

A revolving line lets you draw, repay and redraw inside a limit. A closed second mortgage is a fixed amount with a fixed schedule. The cheaper starting APR is not always the cheaper facility over the years you keep it. Sketch the payment in the mortgage calculator before you ask for a written offer.

What lenders look at

Income, the first mortgage, the property and local loan-to-value limits. Browsing here does not check your credit file. A hard inquiry happens only if you apply. Related: mortgages if you are buying or refinancing the first charge, unsecured personal loans if you do not want to use the home, and match.

FAQ

Common questions

Still stuck? Our editorial team answers reader questions weekly.

Is this available where I live?

Only if a licensed lender in this market offers it. If the list is empty, we do not invent a US average instead.

Will you check my credit to show offers?

No. The lender will if you apply.

Can I repay early?

Often yes, sometimes with a fee. Read the disclosure on the card.

What happens if the property value falls?

You can end up owing more than the usable equity. That is why these products are cheaper, and why they are not casual credit.
